Since 2008, studies by various researchers have been undertaken to discover the true nutritional benefits of the baobab fruit and the results all point to a significant number of essential natural nutrients that are finely tuned and balanced. Another affirmative attribute of baobab fruit powder is that as an end product, it requires no industrial scale processing at all. Mighty Baobab Limited, employs a simple mechanical process that separates the seeds from the dry fruit pulp (powder) and all parts of the baobab fruit are used. The shells are used as firewood, thus reducing the burden on indigenous hardwood trees, which would otherwise have been cut down for firewood and the ash from the fire of the baobab shells is rich in potash and used as soap. What’s more, the extracted seed casings are given away to small scale rural farmers as fodder for their livestock thus reducing the impact on grazing land. All this ensures that baobab fruit is a truly carbon positive product.
Baobab trees are not cultivated in orchards like many other fruit trees. They are not subjected to any artificial additives, pesticides or such harmful chemicals. This production is in other words, organic by default – a status given to it by the United Nations.
